Grant Thompson – Lead Guide
Grant is British Columbia native and founder of Tofino Expeditions. Having first visited Haida Gwaii in the 1970’s he has been guiding kayaking trips there since 1992 and has maintained a keen interest in the coastal archeology and natural history of the Islands. As well as leading kayaking trips in many regions around the world he is an accomplished photographer whose pictures of Gwaii Haanas Park have appeared in National Geographic and National Geographic Adventure. Jessica Roy – Lead Guide
A consummate adventurer, professional guide and French trained pâtissier (pastry chef),
Jessica is in her 10th season with Tofino Expeditions in Haida Gwaii and her 7th as head guide. She is a native of Quebec and guided kayaking trips in the St. Lawrence before moving to BC where she initially guided in the Johnstone Strait area. During the winter she is helicopter ski guide in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. Between seasons she “relaxes” by doing long distance cycling tours in far flung locations including: Patagonia, Thailand, Europe and North America.
Peter Fleck – Assistant Guide
Born in the UK this is Peter’s 3rd season with Tofino Expeditions and his fourth as a commercial kayak guide in Gwaii Haanas Park. He brings and impressive range of experience to the job having worked as a licensed Safari Guide in Kenya, competed in long distance sled dog competitions including the famous and notoriously challenging Iditarod and Yukon Quest races both of which he completed. As well Pete rowed across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Barbados (2994 miles) as part of an unsupported 8-man rowing crew.
