We are sure that many of you are looking forward to traveling and getting into the outdoors. Whether you’ve been dreaming of exotic overseas destinations or a wilderness paddling trip in North America, we want you to know that Tofino Expeditions is ready for you. Tofino Expeditions has developed and implemented enhanced sanitation and distancing protocols to help keep our travelers, guides, and local communities healthy and safe. We have implemented health and safety protocols on all of our trips— and will update them as the situation evolves.

Book with Confidence
Our Book with Confidence policy lets you cancel and rebook your trip closer to the time of departure, giving you added flexibility and peace of mind. Backed by 33 years of exploring the most remarkable paddling destinations worldwide, Tofino Expeditions has the expertise to help you from the moment you book your trip to the moment you return.
If you are planning for 2021, it’s not too early to start the process. Early planning is more important than ever given the volume of travelers rebooking 2020 trips to 2021. Space is limited.

Deposits and Payment

All payments may be made by check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express ). Prices are in US or Canadian dollars as specified in the trip description and schedule. All payments are to be made in US or Canadian dollars. After we receive your deposit you will receive a detailed package with a clothing and equipment list, invoice, medical form, Release From Liability Agreement and other information needed to prepare for your trip. Due to the nature of international operations, prices are subject to change.

Baja Mexico and British Columbia Departures
At time of reservation: $500 deposit
60 Days prior to departure: Balance of land cost.

Italy, Amazon, Norway, Croatia and Brazil
At time of reservation: $750
60 days prior to departure: Balance of land cost

Galapagos
At time of reservation: $750
60 days prior to departure: Balance of land cost

 

For reservations submitted on or after September 1, 2020, the following applies to Canada, Europe and South American departures:

What happens if I want to cancel my trip with Tofino Expeditions?
To give you peace of mind during these challenging times, we have worked with our ground teams in Canada, Europe, and South America to offer a flexible cancellation policy. For trip registrations made after September 1st, 2020, we are now offering a 100% refund up until 60 days before departure.



What happens if Tofino Expeditions postpones my trip because of COVID-19 travel restrictions?
If we need to postpone a trip because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, we will contact you with more information specific to your trip.
You can choose between the following options:

  • Transfer to a future departure.
  •  100% credit to use towards a future trip departing on or before December 31, 2022, less any penalties by hotels or local service providers that we cannot recoup.
  • A full refund of your trip costs, less any penalties by accommodation providers (hotels, inns, rifugios) or local service providers that we are unable to recoup. We will endeavor to recover and refund as much money as possible in good faith in light of these circumstances.

    What happens if I’ve transferred with a travel credit onto a 2021 trip with Tofino Expeditions?

    If Tofino Expeditions postpones your departure because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, you can choose between the following options:

  • Transfer to a future departure.
  • 100% credit to use towards a future trip departing on or before December 31, 2022, less any penalties by hotels or local service providers that we cannot recoup.

If you cancel your trip with Tofino Expeditions:
You can cancel your trip up to 60 days before departure and transfer 100% of your travel credit to a credit for future travel. These credits must be used by December 31, 2022.

 

For reservations on Baja trips and Canada, Europe and South American submitted prior to September 1, 2020, the following applies:

If You Need to Cancel Your Trip
A significant portion of our expenses are committed long before departure. Please understand that once you sign up for a trip we lose the right to sell your reserved space to other individuals and groups. Therefore we regret that we cannot make exceptions for personal emergencies. For this reason we strongly recommend you consider purchasing trip insurance. At the time we receive written notice that you must cancel your trip, the following fees will apply (all dates are from departure date):

Baja Mexico Departures
From time of reservation until 60 days prior to departure: $500
59 days or less prior to departure: 100% of Land Cost

Haida Gwaii Canada Departures
From time of reservation until 60 days prior to departure: $500*
59 days or less prior to departure: 100% of Land Cost

Italy,  Amazon, Croatia, Norway and Brazil
From time of reservation until 90 days prior to departure: $750*
89 days or less prior to departure: 100% of Land Cost

Galapagos Islands
From time of reservation until 120 days prior to departure: $750*
119 days or less prior to departure: 100% of Land Cost

*With the exception of Baja departures retained deposits for cancellations made prior to the Land Cost balance due date may be applied to any Tofino Expeditions trip departing within 18 months of your original reservation date.

Cancellation Insurance
We strongly recommend the purchase of cancellation insurance for your protection in event of illness. Please contact your travel agent for more information.

Additional Information

What’s Included
The information package for each trip contains a comprehensive list of equipment and services that are included in the trip cost. Please read these carefully and call our office if you require further information.

Not included
Airfares, gratuities to staff, insurance of any kind, airport taxes (if any), alcoholic beverages or soft drinks and other items of a personal nature. Medical costs, costs of hospitalization, evacuation by helicopter or any other means are not covered in the trip cost.

Delays
If the trip is delayed because of bad weather, canceled or delayed flights or delays of other modes of transport, sickness or situations for which Tofino Expeditions or its agents cannot make provisions, the cost of delays is not included.

Single Travelers
Hotel and tent accommodations are based on double occupancy. If you are traveling alone and wish to share accommodations, we will match you with a room/tent mate of the same sex if one is available. If there is no one with whom you can share, or if you prefer single hotel accommodations, you are requested to pay the single supplement fee listed for your trip (not all trips include such fees).

Small Groups
In the event that a trip is under subscribed we may add a small-group surcharge rather the cancel the departure. For our Baja and Queen Charlotte trips the small group surcharge is $150 US per person for groups of 6 or less.

Trip Prices
Prices are subject to change due to currency fluctuations and other factors beyond Tofino Expeditions’ control.
