Venice and Dolomites Linked Through Time

The beauty of Venice and the grandeur of Dolomites have been dazzling visitors for centuries. These two premier Italian destinations and UNESCO World Heritage Sites are linked through history, much of Venice stands on pilings made from timber cut in the nearby Dolomites. The proximity of both of these exciting, but very different kayak travel experiences inspired this itinerary. First we paddle pristine alpine lakes, hike through wild flower strewn meadows surrounded by stunning peaks and then kayak the canals of Venice to experience the inspiring interplay of water, light and architecture that make the city so special.

Turning into side canals of the Rialto sestiere (district), we enter the heart of this water city where every turn offers a new view and interplay of light and water. Minute details are visible from a perspective that most visitors never see. Stopping the kayaks in a quiet campo (square), we continue to explore the city on foot, pausing for coffee or lunch before paddling on.
